Last week... we watched Woh Lamhe. I think this statement is more than enough to talk about this movie. :-) Movie is not even worth one paragraph to write about.!!
In one line: Its a story of a film actress, a famous one, ofcourse! who has some type of Schizophrenia (one where you see imaginary people around), and dies at the end.
There is nothing else special in the movie. Few scenes specially shot to get an "A" rating from sensor board and to attract certain audience, just in case if film goes flop.
In Better words: WohLamhe shows love at its painful best. Moving away from the glitzy make-believe world of films, media, etc, the director Aditya (Shiney Ahuja) rescues the 'trapped' actress Sana (Kangana Ranaut) from a life of dungeon-like professionalism.
Firstly... it starts with a Flashback... "3 years ago, Mumbai". I always had issues with Flashback movies. You have to have nice 15-20 years types Flashback, 3 years in not a flashback! Come on! It takes more than that to build a flyover in Bangalore!
I have been a fan of 90's movies, They had everything in a single movie... Action, dance, romance, suspense, villans, sone ki smuggling, gunda raaj , kala bazaari, main tumhare bachhe ki maa banne wali hoo, kutte kamine, college ka pyar, Inter-college dance competition, pehle dusmani-phir pyar, dancing around trees, maa ka ashirwad, baape ke khun ka badla, heroine ki ijjat lootne ki koshish, final fighting, Villian dead, late entry on police, THE END!!! Ofcourse all those movies had more emotions and less reality, I mean, they were not that close to reality like today's movies. Now movies make more sense. People have become more demanding in terms of quality and people don't watch movies as they used to... say 20 years ago. Thanks to TV! (I am taking about Metro Audience). So movies don't get repeat audience, people hardly watch movies twice. That has created need of making more quality movies.
Anways... back to the topic......
The opening scene of the movie itself is unrealistic...(Though a pleasure for eyes! ) An actress, who is not acting for 3 years, in a plush 5 star hotel, in a bathtub filled with hot water, rose pallets, bubbles, etc.... and what she does? well... she is not in there to take a bath! She is there to commit god damn suicide! Why u have to commit suicide while taking a bath? Take a bath, get dressed, and the proceed further.. .but NO. Who will watch a movie and that's also, after paying 200 bucks for a ticket, that shows a fully dressed actress committing suicide... She has to be naked!! Anyways, She takes a blade and tries to cut a nerve on her hand..... and.... and.... and... she still survives!
Movie then sets in to flashback... where this some 'no name Joe', wanna be director Aditya talks some crap to this actress Sana to get her to act in her film... how realistic! Thats how you can sign a super star... by talking crap! Anyway, he has his own reasons, lets not go in to that.
Rest of the movie is how this actress evolves in to mental patient, and how this director tries to help her.
It a Mahesh Bhatt movie.... so exposure has to come! Actress Kangana has exposed a lot. Which includes stripping thrice in entire movie, getting wet probably 10 times, 5 kissing scenes, not to forget the "throwing her panty on Aditya's face in a party in front of press!!" scene. In 95% of the scenes, she is wearing only top... where are the damn bottoms!!? Skits, pants, salwars, towel, banana leaves? Something??? Nope! She has to be like that... coz Mahesh Bhatt is behind the camera! Remember who made Bipasha Basu famous!?
All in All... A crap movie.... except, Shiney Ahuja's acting, he is really good, and a very nice song - Kya Muze Pyaar hai.... apart from that nothing much. Good movie to watch with your other male friends, blow whistles, pass comments and stuff.
I am waiting for DON now. Will watch it for Priyanka Chopra and bit for Shahrukh (You should respect old people).
That's it for now! I am going to bed. Good Night!
